Heidi Swapp - Say Cheese!

Samantha Walker's Creative Team Blog Hop and Giveaway is going on right now! Scroll down to the next post to join in the fun!

I love taking photos with my phone. For one thing, it is not 10 pounds like our SLR. My phone is usually in my pocket during the day and I can easily pull it out while in public to take a photo or two. The last time we went in public with the SLR, everyone we passed made a comment about it. ;) Yeah, kind of funny. But true.

I created this unique pencil holder [aka. Color Magic Coloring Container as I will be calling it] for Heidi Swapp's InstaSPIRATION Week. I really wanted something to hold my favorite Instagrams as I print them. The best part, is that I can easily change the photo out because it is just hanging inside a Mini Instaframe from a metal clip. Then, that metal clip sticks to a magnet and the magnet to the grater.

(my sister, Becca, and her husband, Josh inside a Mini Instaframe)

I knew this thing needed to be able to stand upright, while also looking classy (as classy as a cheese grater can.)

So, I found this 7"x5" Oak Bracket in the hardware store. I am not a carpenter and I get lost in the hardware store! I just wandered around until I found what I wanted. If you asked me where it was I would tell you in the isle where the stair railings are. ;) I spray painted it white and then added Vintage Chic paper, matching the stripes as I went, to cover the pre-drilled screw holes.

To attach the grater to the bracket I used glue. Yes, you read that right. I used eight globs (that is professional terminology) of Helmar's Silicone Adhesive Sealant. Then, I propped it up with books so that it could lay flat to dry.

I cut a piece of chipboard to fit on the inside so that my Distress Markers wouldn't fall through.

This is by far the most fun I have had with my Instagram photos! Do you Instagram? Follow me at createoften!

Create Well: Think outside the box (or grater) when using your phone photos!
