Heidi Swapp - Capture Life
Thursday, March 12, 2015Have you ever met someone where they collect something and then whenever you see that something in a store you are drawn to buy it for them?
When I was in the sixth grade our classroom had table names. You can imagine what the table names could be if made up by sixth graders. Our table name was "The Groovy Cows." Why we picked the cow, I have no idea. Maybe everyone had to pick an animal - I don't remember that part. I have no idea why we couldn't be "The Raging Dinosaurs" or something... let's just say, I am sure I didn't have a say in what animal was picked. I also have no idea how that little table name became a "collection" for me.
Everyone got me cow things up until I think I graduated high school. My grandparents made ceramic cows with handpainted long eyelashes on them - come on, you know what I am talking about. I was given socks, shirts, and knick knacks like you wouldn't believe. I had a shelf in my room filled with little cow figurines. Now, I am not proud of this. I also don't want someone to think of me when they are in a store and see a cow.
Yet, here is this woman and friend Kim, whose favorite color is yellow. Everywhere I go I see yellow and I think of her. When I see yellow I think of sunshine, happiness, bright light, joy, warmth, relaxing, fun - and, well, that is Kim's personality.
So, you see, unlike the "cow" I have no problem making a layout of Kim using lots of gold and yellow. I also have no problem buying her any yellow jewelry of any shape or size because, well, as you can see she likes it. It makes her happy. It's her.
I used Heidi Swapp's Wanderlust collection along with her Minc accessories in gold foil. I also used this Silhouette diamond shape file along with Bazzill Basics cardstock. It matched perfectly. I added my journaling behind a MemoryDex card so that it stayed personal.
I also added some Heidi Swapp stamping too!
So, now when you see anything with a cow on it - DO NOT think of me, but if you see me use yellow more, you will know why. I am thinking of Kim Jeffress.
Create Well: Add a color to your page that you wouldn't normally. How does that color make you feel? Who does it remind you of?
