I was in the grocery department store last week just for a couple of things, when we passed the sunglasses. My two year old from her cart called out, "Glasses! Glasses!" Who can resist a two year old trying on sunglasses? So, I let her have about five minutes of switching out styles and admiring herself in the mirror. All the while a woman was watching us from the opposite department...

When I finally told Bre, my two year old, that it was time to move on, she had a melt down, screaming that she wanted to go back. The older woman caught my attention and whispered loudly, "I think she needs to get a toy!" I was like, huh? I have never experienced that before in a store. Yes, let's reward my child for throwing a fit in the store. Ha! It was so weird, that I walked away thinking, "That was odd." It was at this time Bre wanted to get out of the cart and walk, so I let her so she could be busy. This trip for 2 things was taking longer by the minute because she had to touch everything along the way.
She wanted to help at the self checkout so fumbling with all my bags and things, I let her add the 85 cents change through the machine while I tried to find the rest of the cash in my purse. After we got the receipt I almost joined her while she jumped on every floor tile yelling "Ta-da! I did it!"
Then, quickly an employee ran up to me and gave me a rose to run away just as fast as he came. "Um, Thank you!" I yelled after him. As I walked out of the store, I saw that there were other women with single roses.
Wouldn't this world be a better place if every time a toddler screamed or misbehaved in the grocery store, the mother got a flower or a toy? I think so!
Create Well: When the day is looking unpredictable or hard, open your eyes to see ways you can bless those around you. You never know how much it will make a difference in their day and yours!
