This time of year is my family's favorite time. On Mother's Day, my in-laws plant their garden. Every week afterwards we take a look at the progress and watch it grow!

I love watching the progress of the garden. It also makes me happy to see what joy it gives Mom and Dad. They plant more every year for one reason - to bring their family together. They plant produce so that their family will come to their home and get produce every week. It is during this time that Mom and Dad can catch up with the family and get visitors through summer and the fall months.
There is something extremely humbling to know this. They put that much time and effort into building, planting, maintaining, weeding, and protecting their garden all to spend time with their family. Sometimes, it takes so much of ourselves to pick up a phone and call that person we need to talk to. Something that takes minutes. Here Mom and Dad put in hours and hours just to build their relationships with their kids, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
I think they have the right idea. I think I am blessed to have such an example in my life.
