Evans Genealogy: With You the Journey Begins

Nels and Anna Petterson came over to America from Sweden. With them begins my genealogy journey. They had five children, three in Sweden and two in America. One child passed away in England on their way to America (pictured below). They originally lived in Kansas but didn't care for the weather and moved to Anderson Island, Washington. Although they only lived on Anderson Island for a few years before moving on they ended up going back later in their lives. Only about four families began the settlement on the island and the Pettersons was one of them. I will get into more of the interesting detail as time goes on.

Journaling:

Nels and Anna Margreta Petterson married in 1855.
Nels came to America in 1869 and Anna and the
children, Ida Sophia; Carl August; and Andrew
Magnus in 1870. Carl August passed away in
England on the way over. They homesteaded in
Kansas. In 1881 they moved to Anderson Island,
Washington. In 1872, Anna Lovisa was born and
Carl August was born in 1879 (named after the
deceased child). Photographed is Nels, Anna
Margreta Petterson, and Carl August in 1884, Puget
Sound Gallery Palace; Horton and Lewis Floating Gallery.
