Sarah Rhoads has been an artist since she was thirteen; people being her inspiration and her SLR camera giving her the means to document their lives. She wouldn't be complete as a person or artist if it wasn't for her husband and business partner, Chris. The Seattle husband and wife team brings a fresh and beautiful perspective to the people they photograph. "Telling people's story authentically and fully is truly our passion. I could not have done any of it without my God and my amazing husband. He has always believed in me. We are truly blessed for the joy that our art brings us. It makes us come alive; a freedom that allows us to paint our canvas in purples, yellows and sunset oranges."
We are Sarah and Chris Rhoads, a husband and wife photography team based in Seattle Washington. We are passionate about telling stories fully and authentically from a unique artistic perspective. We are excited about creating imaginative and honest imagery. We are bored with the systematic and contrived.
How long have you been a photographer? What made you become a photographer?
I have been a lover of people since I can remember. That is what initially sparked my interest in photography is the curiosity of humanity. We have both been doing it professionally for 3-4 years.
What inspires you in your everyday life?
Humanity, love, music, collaboration
What advice can you give our readers about looking through the lens in a new way?
I would encourage each person to embrace who they are, not to try and replicate someone else but rather to shoot from the heart. There is one thing that you have that no one else does and that is your unique DNA ;). Each person has a different perspective of the world. With photography we are able to show the world how we see things. Do that without fear and trust your gut :)

Most of our readers are papercrafters and wish they could take better photographs. Can you give them advice? What can they do to capture that memorable photograph?
See above. But in addition, I would say to shoot a lot. As mother always says, "Practice makes perfect" and it is true. When you can stop thinking about your camera you can really let your heart lead you through a session or a shoot rather than thinking through the technicalities of your camera. That comes with time and practice. So get out there and shoot whatever you can!
