Craft Warehouse - Doodlebug Designs Journal

I know a picture is worth a 1000 words. But, what else is? I had the honor of being at Monday's Scrap Club in Salem. Jeanean Brown was the guest speaker introducing Becky Higgins Project Life. She had the most inspirational message about journaling that I have heard in quite some time.

She pulled out a journal that her grandmother had written to her in her own handwriting. It was filled cover to cover with stories of her life with photographs through out. It was her own way of documenting her legacy.

Even though scrapbooking is a way for me to express myself creatively, I still want to leave my own legacy for my children and grandchildren. I don't want them to just look at a page and see a photo along with a bunch of embellishments. It needs to tell my story.

I created this journal using Doodlebug Designs for Craft Warehouse displays. These little journals are perfect to cover with paper and stickers. Then, cover the pen with washi tape and get to writing your own story!

Create Well: Take time to tell your own story because it is worth telling.

Be Yourself Mini Book

The first day back from vacation is always a hard one. It required several cups of coffee and even hot cocoa later. Everyone feels better after a cup of hot cocoa. Especially with this great new large mug I bought ;)

God blessed us with a beautiful sunny day to make up for it. Getting outside twice today to just walk, run, and play did us both good. I got to take photos of my little man outside for the first time in several months. He stood still a few times long enough for me to snap a few.

I was able to finish a mini album that I had laying around without any journaling filled in. Ha! I thought it would be a great way to document my goals, likes, favorites, and playlists for the new year.

This album was created with Pink Paislee's Daily Junque Line (which was my favorite line of all time! I still am hoarding little pieces of this paper for my journals!).

Today, I am being featured on the Pink Paislee Blog. If you take a peek, make sure to say hello! You can also see more pages of this album there too!

Create Well: Be who you were created to be. Be yourself.

Creation Inspiration

One of my favorite things to do is go to library book sales. Friday I took my little man and braved the crowds. I normally leave the kiddo home or with a sitter since I have a fear of crowds and tight spaces (it is also hard to use a stroller in those tight places, too). But this season's sale began in the morning where they usually begin later in the afternoon.

When I go I usually look for dictionaries, favorite classics, vintage children's books, and children's books for my children's home library. I know what titles I am looking for and so I don't waste time looking at the condition of the book until I get home. Unfortunately, when I get home I find a few with pages missing.

I take these damaged books, {beware of the next phrase} remove the pages, and use these for altered projects. I place the dictionaries and classics on a shelf in my art room. Look at the previous post for one of the pieces I have created from a damaged book and dictionary script.

Create Well: Go to library book sales and buy used and damaged books and bring them home to make something new and beautiful from them.
