DIY Foiled Vinyl

DIY Foiled Vinyl by @createoften

I am so excited about this fun planner tutorial! There is a NEW Printable Vinyl available by Silhouette and it makes foiling vinyl so much easier! Let me show you how!

This is a personal blog. All editorial content and projects are intellectual property of Create Often with Jennifer Evans. I am an employee and do receive financial compensation and material product from American Crafts to develop my craft posts. This post is also sponsored by Silhouette. I create what I love and love to share what I create. but all ideas and opinions are my own.

The Silhouette Cameo 3 gets a lot of use around here. Mostly I love using it to customize my planner or home decor. One of the newest products released is the Silhouette Printable Vinyl. This pretty much blew my mind when I saw it and I couldn't wait to give it a try in the Heidi Swapp Minc! I knew if I printed anything on the vinyl with my laser printer that I could foil it!

Supplies:

Silhouette Cameo 3

Silhouette Printable Vinyl

Laser Printer

Heidi Swapp Minc Foil Applicator Machine

Heidi Swapp Minc Reactive Foil

 How To:

1. I used the "Print and Cut" feature with my laser printer and cut my "You Can Do This" quote cutting file by artist Jodie York from the Silhouette Store.

2. I cut around my design. There is no need to weed the design before placing it inside the Minc.

3. Place the design in the Minc Transfer Folder, add foil to the top making sure all of the design is covered. Close folder and place in the Minc on heat setting 2.

4. Remove the foil and be WOWed! I used gold foil here and the design looks beautiful.

5. No need to use transfer paper for this vinyl. It is thicker than standard vinyl and holds it's shape like a large sticker. Just peel and stick!

This vinyl isn't permanent or water resistant, so I wouldn't recommend it on a mug. You can see my tutorial for that here. However, I think the foil gives the vinyl a protection for a quick clean with a dry soft cleaning cloth. I have been using the kind that I use for my glasses.

I am looking forward to customizing other planner supplies like pre-made dividers, TN inserts, and more!
