One of the struggles I have had this summer has been trying to make time for crafting, scrapbooking, or time in my planner. During the summer it is easy to get busy with our schedules and activities that crafting just gets pushed aside. As a creative, I have realized I have to take time to craft as an outlet, or I can get a little rough around the edges. Maybe you know what I mean? Crafting is a good stress reliever and helps me to refocus and relax. Maybe for you it might be a glass of wine that does the same. Hey, maybe for you it is crafting AND a glass of wine, lol! I wanted to share with you some ways I have found to make time for a little down time crafting.

I love to sit and do a project from start to finish. During the summer that isn't always realistic. I have learned to let that go and that anytime, even if it is for 15 minutes, is good crafting time. Setting a timer helps me get that time in! When I set a timer, I already know what I am going to be working on so that I don't waste those minutes searching for products or thinking of ideas.
I use to be an early riser before I had kids. Now I realized I am an early riser if no one wakes me up and talks to me for an hour. Ha! Now, I am a night owl. After all the kids are in bed is my best time to craft those big projects. On those summer evenings when the kids are up later and I can't craft, I have been known to wake up before the kids to get a little quiet time and crafting in. Whether you are an early riser or night owl, take time to craft instead of watching your favorite television show. Hey, maybe you can do both?!
I am a list maker. Are you? During the summer I sometimes have to make a list to get even the basic household chores done. Lately, I have added crafting to my to-do list. Hey, if it on the list and it gets done, that is one extra thing crossed off! It makes me feel like I have accomplished a lot! So make sure to schedule some crafting time into your planner's to do list. You will be glad you did!
Vacation is one of my favorite times to get some crafting in. I like to bring a small bag filled with supplies like washi tape, my favorite pen, my planner, tape runner, and a photo printer or Instax camera. This helps me document my trip when it is fresh in my mind. I keep these supplies in my purse and while on the go I can create.
I hope that this post inspires you to make time to craft this summer!
