When I saw Kaori's work for the first time, it made me gasp out loud! She is not afraid of trying new things with different mediums. It's refreshing! It's unique! {Sigh, I love it!} Karori designs for Crate Paper, Scrap Station, and Creative Scrappers.
My name is Kaori Watanabe (also known as Chelsea).
I am living in northern Japan, Hokkaido with my hubby and two-year-old son.
I started scrapbooking since October 2008 to make my son's album. I always create pages with my son's photos. My scrapbooking object is not only my boy's photos, but I also like to use everyday photos too.
My favorite colors are bright colors. The particularly favorite color is blue, yellow and white. I like gentle browns too. I seem to like controlling color taste. When I create something, I always try to harmonize all the elements on a page.
I especially love to use numbers, alphabets, and vintage ephemera. I am crazy about the layouts design now!!
I like making something. I am excited when I watch a splendid design. Other than magazines, I always inspired by amazing scrapbook designers. There is really a lot of amazing artists! Above all, I love Debee Campos and Amanda Johnson's amazing work. Their work always has new discovery, material, and their colors are very beautiful.
This is my favorite project. I often use white to ground my designs. When I uses the various inks, the white shines most. In this layout, I used glimmer mits, acrylic paints, alcohol ink, vintage and paper ephemera. The Alcohol ink is really beautiful transparent feeling. I dropped the ink on clear plastic. I am always looking for a new expression method with various ink and material.
I really like papers. It isn't limited to scrap booking material. The corrugated cardboard, package, tag, and the ticket are important materials for me. I like transparent things. I made the wax paper with beeswax.
It is an everyday casual scene that I want to scrap most.
I find inspiration nearly everywhere. When I read articles in magazines, see posters, just observing my world, if it catches my eye I am hooked. I always think about how I can express it on paper when I found a cool design.
Scrapbooking is what I like to do most now. How about you? The one thing that's more important than anything else is have fun! And, try something new (new technique, new material, new colors, new
style)! Then you'll discover something new for your scrap.
